According to CSP today, “Peru´s Minister of Energy and Mines announced the start of US$15 billion mining projects in Peru between this year and 2015. Given the high solar radiation of the country, this represents new opportunities for CSP to supply energy for the mining sector.”

Considering this excitement in this development in the mining industry, I think the Peruvian government should take care not to forget its planned projects in the Andes for providing power and heating to its citizens.  With this growth in the mining industry, there will be a higher demand for energy sources, and large-scale wind and solar projects have the potential to step up to meet this load.
